2006 Irish Channel St. Patrick's Parade Is Tomorrow . . .

Another year, another parade . . . The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Parade begins tomorrow at 1pm at Sophie Wright Place proceeding through the Uptown neighborhoods of the Lower Garden District, Garden District, and Irish Channel. The parade consists of marching groups followed by floats featuring riders that throw beads and vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, and cabbages (watch your head).

Myself along with other Krewe Char de Guerrers are members of the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club and will be marching (and handing out beads and drinking) tomorrow. The crest seen above is the medallion club members will wearing commemorating the service of the New Orleans Police and Fire Departments following KTMB. Past parades and medallions have recognized an order of nuns and recently deceased clergy such as Monsignor John Reynolds (2004), Father Harry Thompson (2002), and Sister Lillian McCormack (2001).

Come out and look for me. I'll be the guy in a tux . . .
