Carpetbagging New Orleans to a New Level

A certain Houston furniture store (not going to give them publicity by naming them) has been saturating local New Orleans television stations with "buy your new unflooded furniture from us" commercials over the past week or two. As I was sitting here trying to think of something to post on the blog the commercial came on in one of the local commercial windows during Saturday Night Live. Its not bad enough that Houston has taken a huge segment of our population (pre-KTMB as well as post-KTMB), and that a huge number of the carpetbagger contractors falling all over themselves to cash in from our misery come from Texas, but now that's not enough. Now this furniture store in Houston feels the need to get some of that gravy train action from New Orleans. We're sending them our people (in many cases subsidized by the federal government) and the earnings made by the carpetbagger contractors so I suppose we might as well contribute to Texas' sale taxes instead of New Orleans' or Louisiana's, to stay on that same track, right?

Simply pathetic. Enough is never enough.

Please buy local. Our businesses and tax base desperately need it.

About SNL: Not the best tonight (or this season), but in this faux music video segment host Natalie Portman wears a shirt with an upsidedown fleur-de-lis . . .

I don't know, I actually had tears in my eyes laughing at tonight's SNL. That's the first time in a long time. The Star Wars geeks, Ladysmith Black Mambazo in Space, the Larry King sketch with transgendered people. I laughed a lot. Missed the upside down fleur-de-lis, though.
